Forum Energy Technologies (FET), a global company with facilities in the UK, has unveiled its latest remotely-operated vehicle (ROV), the XLX EVO III. The new Work Class ROV is designed to perform a wide range of underwater tasks, offering enhanced performance through upgraded thrusters and the ability to carry a leading 500kg payload.
Manufactured at FET’s facility in Kirkbymoorside, Yorkshire, the XLX EVO III features a newly designed CNC-machined frame. This update provides better access for maintenance and improved tooling capabilities. Additionally, the vehicle’s through-frame-lift capacity has increased by over 30%, now reaching 4,000kg, compared to its predecessor, the EVO II.
The ROV also includes upgraded pilot chairs and a new control software, ICE Unity, which allows for efficient remote operations. FET has announced that further enhancements to the vehicle are in the works.
Kevin Taylor, FET’s vice president of subsea operations, commented, “For over 50 years, our ROVs have set the standard for heavy-duty subsea work. We’re excited to introduce the next generation, the XLX EVO III, which combines rugged reliability with cutting-edge technology. This new vehicle will allow operators to perform tasks with precision and confidence, and we look forward to seeing its impact in the field.”
