TaeguTec has introduced its CeramicSFeed end mills, designed to elevate productivity in the machining of superalloys used in industries like aerospace, motorsport, and medical sectors. While solid carbide cutting tools are effective up to a point, ceramic cutting tools, such as the CeramicSFeed, offer superior performance for these demanding materials.
The CeramicSFeed is capable of machining at speeds ranging from 300 to 1,000 meters per minute, with feed rates between 0.02 and 0.1mm per tooth. It is specifically designed to handle the high-speed machining of nickel-based superalloys, such as Inconel. The tool incorporates TaeguTec’s C3030 grade, making it an ideal choice for high-performance tasks.
Innovative Design Features
The CeramicSFeed boasts an advanced geometry, featuring unequal flute spacing, a high helix angle, and an optimized cutting edge with a unique after-treatment. These design elements contribute to its ability to process nickel-based alloys effectively at high machining speeds.
The tool’s cutting edge geometry has been tailored to enhance performance during the machining of tough superalloys, ensuring consistent and reliable results.
Tailored for High-Feed Machining
Available in both four- and six-flute variants, the CeramicSFeed end mills are made from a durable SiAlON composition. This composition is well-suited for a range of operations, including shouldering, slotting, and ramping. TaeguTec has introduced two key variants in the CeramicSFeed lineup: the TC3030 grade in both four- and six-flute CRF (Corner Radius Flute) versions, and the high-feed CRH four-flute end mills.
The CRF variant is designed with a larger core diameter to increase tool stiffness and reduce vibration. Its 40-degree helix angle and corner radius enhance tool longevity while improving swarf evacuation during high-feed machining.
On the other hand, the CRH high-feed end mill offers an extremely robust body and cutting-edge design, making it perfect for high-feed operations that demand maximum material removal rates. The CRH end mill is particularly effective in facing and ramping applications where high productivity is key.
Variety and Flexibility
The CeramicSFeed CRF series comes in diameters ranging from 6mm to 16mm, with corner radii from 0.5mm to 2mm. The overall length of the tools depends on their diameter, ranging from 50mm to 83mm. Similarly, the CRH four-flute end mills come in diameters between 6mm and 16mm, with an overall length of 50mm to 83mm.
The CRH variant is capable of machining at feed rates from 0.1mm to 0.3mm per tooth. It also features a corner radius ranging from 0.7mm to 1.8mm, along with a necked flute design that enhances flexibility during high-feed machining tasks.
TaeguTec’s CeramicSFeed tools are set to redefine productivity standards in the machining of challenging superalloys, delivering exceptional performance and durability for industrial applications.
