Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is hiring 150 maintenance technicians in the West Midlands to support its shift toward electric vehicles (EVs). These roles are key to the company’s Reimagine strategy, which aims to introduce fully electric models across all its brands by 2030.
Where the New Jobs Are Located
- 50 technicians will work at JLR’s Solihull plant, maintaining high-tech equipment for the upcoming Range Rover Electric, set to launch later this year.
- 100 technicians will be based at the Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre (EMPC) in Wolverhampton, where they will help produce battery packs and electric drive units for future JLR EVs.

Nigel Blenkinsop, JLR’s Executive Director of Industrial Operations, said: “Our Reimagine strategy depends on skilled workers and cutting-edge technology. As we modernize our factories, we need technicians who are passionate about sustainable innovation.”
Upskilling for an Electric Future
Alongside this hiring push, JLR is training over 20,000 employees and partners in electrification and digital skills through its Future Skills Programme.
This is part of a £3 billion annual investment in:
- EV production facilities
- Next-gen vehicle development
- AI and digital technology
- Workforce training
Factory Upgrades and Upcoming EV Launches
JLR has already upgraded its Solihull, Halewood, and Wolverhampton plants to build EVs while still producing traditional and hybrid engines. The first electric model, the Range Rover Electric, will roll out from Solihull later this year, with 57,000 customers already on the waiting list.
Additionally, Solihull will produce the first of three luxury electric Jaguars—a four-door GT—further solidifying JLR’s commitment to an all-electric future.
