Hyundai Motor Group introduced its new mobility software brand, Pleos, at a developer conference in Seoul. This launch signifies the company’s shift towards software-defined vehicles (SDVs) and cloud-based mobility solutions.

Hyundai revealed that its next-generation infotainment system, Pleos Connect, will be launched in the second quarter of 2026. The company plans to integrate this system into more than 20 million vehicles by 2030. Based on Android Automotive OS, Pleos Connect will offer improved integration with mobile apps and third-party developers.

During the keynote, Chang Song, president and head of Hyundai Motor and Kia’s Advanced Vehicle Platform Division, shared the company’s vision: “Our ultimate goal is to achieve cloud mobility, where all forms of mobility are connected through cloud software and continue to evolve over time.” As part of this vision, Hyundai also introduced Pleos Playground, an open platform for mobile app developers. This platform will offer software development kits, design guidelines, and support tools to help developers create in-vehicle apps that can be downloaded through a dedicated app marketplace.

Additionally, Hyundai announced partnerships with major tech companies such as Google, Uber, Samsung, Naver, SOCAR, and Unity to expand its software ecosystem. To support its cloud mobility vision, Hyundai launched the Next Generation Urban Mobility Alliance (NUMA), a public-private partnership aimed at optimizing transportation systems. NUMA will feature projects like Shucle, a demand-responsive transportation service, and the Autonomous Vehicle Foundry (AVF), which will provide autonomous driving technology for electric vehicles.

As the automotive industry moves toward software-defined vehicles, Hyundai’s investment in future mobility technologies allows the company to stay competitive in an increasingly fast-paced market. The name Pleos is derived from the Greek word “Pleo,” meaning “more,” and “OS,” representing “operating system,” reflecting Hyundai’s ambition to advance mobility through technology.
