Larsen & Toubro (L&T), through its Heavy Engineering division, has successfully shipped the fourth Steam Generator (SG) to the Kaiga Atomic Power Station in Karnataka. This delivery marks the completion of all four SGs required for one unit under India’s indigenously developed 10×700 MWe Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor Fleet Programme.
The fourth SG was shipped nine months ahead of schedule, with all four SGs delivered in just 45 months. This sets a global benchmark, as the first SG was delivered in a remarkable 33 months. The SGs are intended for Units 5 and 6 at the Kaiga station. The shipment ceremony took place at L&T’s A M Naik Heavy Engineering Complex in Hazira, Gujarat, and was attended by senior officials from the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL).
