Kagame Outraged Over Generator Failure at Kigali Pelé Stadium

Rwanda President Paul Kagame has voiced his frustration following a generator malfunction that left Kigali Pelé Stadium without power during a night match.

In response to the incident, Kagame declared, “This should not have happened in the first place!” His comments came after Kigali City management addressed the situation, acknowledging the failure and pledging to find a permanent solution.

The city’s officials revealed that the current generator at the stadium is only capable of powering limited sections of the facility. They stated that night games can proceed if the teams provide an additional generator.

“The City of Kigali is actively working on a lasting solution for this issue,” a city representative noted. “The existing generator at Kigali Pelé Stadium is insufficient to power all lights for night games. However, teams with their own generators are permitted to play after dark.”

The city has taken steps to address the problem by ordering a new, more powerful generator. “A generator with the necessary capacity has been ordered and is expected to arrive in Rwanda within the next three months,” the statement added.
