Somas Instrument AB, a long-standing leader in butterfly valve manufacturing with nearly 80 years of expertise, has named Accelleron as its authorized global service provider for marine applications. The announcement was made at the SMM trade fair, marking a significant development in Somas’ commitment to enhancing customer support in the marine sector.
Accelleron, renowned for its global leadership in turbocharging, fuel injection, and digital solutions within the marine and energy industries, will now oversee the service and support for Somas’ marine products. This partnership, effective immediately, will leverage Accelleron’s extensive network of over 100 service locations worldwide, ensuring 24/7 customer support for Somas valves.
Under the agreement, Accelleron’s service engineers will receive specialized training to handle Somas valves, particularly in aftertreatment systems such as selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). The partnership also empowers Accelleron to sell and promote Somas spare parts and services.
Peter Hägg, CEO of Somas Instrument AB, expressed confidence in the new collaboration: “Our agreement with Accelleron will guarantee that our marine industrial customers receive top-notch aftercare, supporting the long-term performance of Somas valves. With Accelleron’s extensive global network and decades of service experience, we are assured that our customers’ needs are well managed.”
The partnership will also benefit Accelleron by expanding its service capabilities, allowing it to offer comprehensive support to its own marine clientele. This includes advancing the company’s sustainability efforts through a broader range of digital solutions and the recent acquisition of high-precision fuel injection specialist OMT.
Roland Schwarz, President of Accelleron’s Service Division, emphasized the importance of the new arrangement: “In an era where efficiency, reliability, and uptime are critical for shipping operations, we are thrilled to provide combined valve and turbocharging services from a single source. This will help minimize maintenance time and enhance operational availability.”
Schwarz added, “We look forward to building on our technical expertise and delivering greater value as a trusted service partner.”
