Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), a leading independent research and development organization, will feature its advancements in hydrogen internal combustion engine (H2-ICE) technology at the upcoming Power Progress Summit. Scheduled for October 1-2 at the Voco Chicago Downtown Hotel, this session will spotlight the latest breakthroughs in hydrogen fuel applications for mobile machinery.

Dr. Graham Conway, who leads the Low Carbon Technologies group within SwRI’s Powertrain Engineering Division, will present an exclusive session titled “Hydrogen in Mobile Machines: Advances & Potential Applications.” Conway’s team has recently achieved a significant milestone with the successful completion of a hydrogen-fueled Class 8 demonstration vehicle, marking a major step forward in hydrogen engine development.

Conway, a passionate advocate for public and policy maker education on powertrain technologies, earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Leeds in 2012 and has been with SwRI since 2015. His presentation will highlight both the advancements and future potential of hydrogen technology in mobile machines.

The Power Progress Summit, centered on “Developments in Digitalization & Decarbonization,” will explore the transformative impact of emissions regulations and technological innovations on engines and powertrains. Key topics will include advancements in hybrid and electrification technologies, as well as automation, AI, and connectivity, all aimed at accelerating the shift towards more efficient and lower/zero-carbon solutions.

In conjunction with the summit, the Off-Highway Conference, presented by Off-Highway Research, will provide industry reports and insights on regional and global market trends, focusing on the role of alternative energy solutions in shaping future market dynamics.
