Hygreen Energy, a Beijing-based leader in electrolyzer manufacturing and hydrogen technology development, has announced ambitious plans to expand its operations in Europe. The company will establish a state-of-the-art electrolyzer manufacturing facility, launch a research and development (R&D) program, and build large-scale green hydrogen production plants in Spain. This strategic move aims to boost the competitiveness, efficiency, and scale of its electrolyzer products, while solidifying its position in international markets.

The new manufacturing plant, set to be located in Malaga, Spain, will focus on producing 5-megawatt (MW) electrolyzers that adhere to European Union compliance standards. Hygreen plans to gradually increase production capacity up to 5 gigawatts (GW), depending on regional demand. Additionally, the company intends to initiate an R&D program to enhance electrolyzer technology, alongside the development of a 10-MW alkaline testing platform.

Further expanding its footprint in Spain, Hygreen plans to partner with key stakeholders to build green hydrogen production plants in Huelva, located in the Andalusia region. These facilities will have a capacity of up to 1.12 GW, making them a significant part of the company’s European hydrogen strategy.

These projects follow several recent agreements Hygreen has made in the region, including partnerships with Coxabengoa, Voltan, and Kemtecnia. These collaborations are intended to create a robust ecosystem for Hygreen’s electrolyzer customers, project developers, and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) providers, reinforcing its market presence in Europe.

Benny Wang, CEO of Hygreen Energy, emphasized the importance of these ventures, stating, “By establishing an electrolyzer factory, launching an R&D program, and developing green hydrogen plants, Hygreen Energy will be well-positioned to capitalize on the burgeoning hydrogen market in Europe. Our electrolyzer solutions are primed for the region and tailored to meet our customers’ specific project performance and delivery needs.”

Hygreen’s expansion aligns with the growing demand for green hydrogen solutions in Europe, as the region continues its push towards renewable energy and decarbonization efforts.
