Eaton is set to showcase its latest advancements in transmission technology for both traditional and electric commercial vehicles at the IAA Transportation fair, running from September 17 to 22 in Hanover.

The highlight of Eaton’s presentation will be the new Advantor series of automated manual transmissions (AMTs), recently introduced to the Brazilian market. Designed for internal combustion engine (ICE) commercial vehicles, the Advantor series represents Eaton’s continued innovation in automated transmission technology.

Marcos Janasi, Business Unit Director for Commercial Powertrain at Eaton’s Mobility Group, emphasized the significance of the Advantor series. “The Advantor series offers numerous features that will appeal to bus and truck manufacturers globally, particularly in emerging markets like South America and Asia-Pacific,” Janasi stated. “Our new transmission series is engineered to provide enhanced fuel efficiency and performance across various vehicle duty cycles while ensuring reliability and ease of service.”

The Advantor lineup includes several models tailored for different segments: the Advantor-6 for light-duty trucks and buses, the Advantor-8 for medium-duty buses, and additional versions aimed at the broader commercial truck market. The series is designed with common components to simplify service and improve the driving experience.

In addition to the Advantor series, Eaton will present its central drive transmission solutions, which are compatible with any electric motor, inverter, or battery system. These transmissions are intended for central drive applications, where the electric motor and transmission are positioned traditionally within the vehicle.

Eaton’s medium- and heavy-duty four-speed EV automated transmissions will also be featured. These transmissions offer robust performance on inclines and during acceleration, with flexible gear ratios and a compact architecture designed to enhance system efficiency, thereby extending vehicle range and battery life. The four-speed EV transmission is currently in production.

Completing Eaton’s display is their compact four-speed EV transmission, which boasts increased torque density. This design promises higher payload capacity, extended range, additional space for batteries, and flexible configurations.

Eaton’s commercial vehicle transmissions will be exhibited at Hall 21, Booth B22, during IAA Transportation 2024.
