Royal Huisman, the renowned Dutch shipbuilder known for its expertise in high-performance sailing yachts and luxury superyachts, has announced the commissioning of its latest sportfish yacht, ‘Special One.’ This remarkable vessel will be showcased at the upcoming 2024 Monaco Yacht Show, set to take place from September 25 to 28.
The ‘Special One’ is powered by twin MAN 20V175D-ML marine engines, each delivering an impressive 4,400 kW of power. Dubbed Project 406, this 52-meter aluminum-hulled creation is touted as “the largest and most luxurious sportfish yacht in the world.” It boasts six decks designed for the highest standards of luxury and comfort, seamlessly integrating advanced technology with the capability to reach speeds exceeding 30 knots, as demonstrated through extensive testing and trials.
“This superyacht represents a significant milestone for Royal Huisman, coinciding with our 140th anniversary, a testament to our commitment to perfection in yacht construction,” stated Benjamin Andres, head of Sales, Four-Stroke Marine, at MAN Energy Solutions. He expressed excitement about being part of such a distinctive project, highlighting the journey of the ‘Special One’ from initial design drafts to successful sea trials in the North Sea. The unveiling at the Monaco Yacht Show is anticipated to be a highlight, marking the first of many showcases for the high-speed 175D engine.
Florian Keiler, head of High-Speed Sales, Four-Stroke Marine, at MAN Energy Solutions, emphasized the advantages of the 175D engine for the yacht segment. “The 175D engine stands out as the most powerful high-speed engine currently available, with its output recently extended to 4,400 kW. Its compact design allows it to fit into the most confined engine rooms, while its fuel efficiency and low operating costs ensure a minimal environmental footprint,” he noted.
Keiler also highlighted the importance of the global PrimeServ aftersales network, which provides comprehensive support for the yacht segment, further enhancing the appeal of the ‘Special One.’ With its blend of luxury, power, and advanced technology, the ‘Special One’ is poised to make a significant impact in the world of superyachts.
