Mocean Energy, a leading ocean energy developer, has joined forces with Proserv, a specialist in control technology, to innovate renewable solutions for subsea operations. This partnership aims to create new technology that will enable subsea control systems to operate using renewable energy sources.

The forthcoming technology represents a sustainable alternative to the conventional umbilical power cables widely utilized in the energy sector. The custom solution will harness energy from waves, solar, and batteries, significantly reducing operational emissions associated with offshore projects.

Cameron McNatt, managing director of Mocean Energy, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is a significant step toward accelerating the development of innovative technologies essential for providing low-carbon solutions within the offshore energy sector. Together, we will develop customizable ocean power solutions for subsea control systems, which we believe will revolutionize both the offshore energy industry and the blue economy, while contributing to the decarbonization of oil and gas production.”

Proserv CEO Davis Larssen underscored the urgency of aligning subsea control systems with global sustainability objectives. He added, “Through our partnership with Mocean Energy, we are advancing the development of reliable, renewable power sources that will not only minimize operational emissions but also enhance efficiency and reliability in subsea environments.”

This agreement is particularly timely for Proserv as the company seeks to integrate cutting-edge technologies, including underwater drones for monitoring wind, oil, and gas operations, into its offerings for the broader energy industry. The collaboration with Mocean Energy is expected to yield significant synergies.

Founded in Scotland in 2015, Mocean Energy has successfully combined wave energy with solar power, enhanced by energy storage systems. Meanwhile, Proserv specializes in control, communication, monitoring, intelligence, and optimization systems designed to maximize asset lifecycle and operational efficiency.
