A fire broke out in a picnic bus on Sunday evening in the Jagatpur Chowmuhani area of Sidhai Mohanpur, West Tripura, after a generator inside the bus exploded. Eleven people, including students and teachers, were injured in the incident.
According to police reports, three buses carrying a picnic group from Champaknagar were returning from Baas Gram, a popular tourist spot, when the fire started. The buses, all powered by CNG, were on their way back when the explosion occurred inside one of the buses.
The explosion ignited a massive fire, causing panic among passengers. The injured, including both students and teachers, were quickly evacuated. Police and firefighters, along with local villagers, arrived at the scene and rescued everyone on board. The injured were taken to a local hospital, with six individuals referred to GB Hospital for further treatment. Fortunately, all are reported to be in stable condition.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed his concern over the incident through social media, offering his prayers for the quick recovery of the injured. He also emphasized the importance of caution while participating in such activities.
“Deeply concerned about the unfortunate incident in Mohanpur, where a picnic bus caught fire following a generator blast. Praying for the speedy recovery of those injured. Six of the injured have been referred to GB Pant Hospital for further treatment. We are closely monitoring the situation to ensure immediate medical attention is provided,” he wrote.
