Cummins Inc., a global leader in power and technology, has announced the launch of a new line of RV generators certified for emissions in all 50 states. The company revealed the news in a press release on January 13.
The new product family includes three models: the QG 7000i DF, QG 4000i DF, and QG 2800i DF. The flagship model, the QG 7000i DF, will make its debut at the Florida RV SuperShow, starting January 15 at the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa, Florida.
Designed by Onan, a Cummins brand, these generators feature advanced technology tailored to meet the changing needs of RV enthusiasts. The i DF series is equipped with a returnless electronic fuel injection (EFI) system, allowing users to switch seamlessly between gasoline and liquid propane vapor. The closed-loop EFI system automatically adjusts for altitude and other operating conditions, ensuring consistent performance.
The returnless EFI design simplifies installation by eliminating the need for a fuel return line. It also avoids fuel varnishing issues common in traditional carburetor systems. Additionally, the generators deliver clean sine wave inverter power and 240V AC capability, safeguarding sensitive electronics like tablets, smartphones, and medical devices.
To enhance user comfort, the i DF series incorporates variable speed engines, permanent magnet alternators, and tuned muffler systems with vibration isolation mounts. These features significantly reduce noise and vibration, improving the overall RV experience.
Karl Wilson, North America Consumer Sales Director at Cummins, expressed enthusiasm about the launch. “We are thrilled to introduce this new line of generators,” he said. “Cummins remains committed to leading the RV industry with innovative power solutions. This new lineup reflects our dedication to meeting customer needs and advancing our product offerings.”
The i DF series also includes the J1939 communication protocol, ensuring compatibility with multifunction displays in RVs. Standard features like computer-controlled overload protection and circuit breaker disconnects prevent overload failures. An onboard microprocessor provides enhanced diagnostics and operation monitoring, making it easier for users to manage their systems.
Cummins plans to roll out the new Onan generators over the next 12 months. The QG 7000i DF will be available for pre-order this summer, with the QG 4000i DF and QG 2800i DF following by the end of the year. The company will continue to support the RV industry from its facilities in Elkhart, Indiana, offering customized upfits and accessories for OEM customers.
