In a significant move toward green mobility, Blue Energy Motors Ltd., a leading clean-energy truck manufacturer and part of Essar’s green initiatives, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra. The agreement was finalized during the World Economic Forum in Davos. The partnership aims to establish a cutting-edge manufacturing facility capable of producing 30,000 electric trucks annually, boosting the state’s industrial growth and advancing its electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure.
The company plans to invest ₹3,500 crores in the project. The facility will feature advanced research and development (R&D) units, a battery-pack production line, a motor manufacturing unit, and charging stations. Once operational, the plant is expected to generate over 4,000 direct jobs, supporting Maharashtra’s transition to green energy and contributing to its economic development. Production is slated to commence in the fiscal year 2025-26.
Anirudh Bhuwalka, CEO of Blue Energy Motors, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, saying, “This partnership with the Government of Maharashtra is a major step forward in our mission to transform the trucking industry with clean energy solutions. The facility will utilize advanced manufacturing techniques, including artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), to produce zero-emission electric trucks. These vehicles are designed to deliver high efficiency and reliability while significantly reducing carbon emissions. The initiative reflects Blue Energy Motors’ commitment to becoming a global leader in green trucking solutions and addressing critical challenges such as climate change and sustainable development through collaboration with industry stakeholders.
