Greenfields Energy Group, a rapidly growing energy management consultancy specializing in the manufacturing sector, has achieved £1 million in revenue just 18 months after its launch. The company, founded by Liam Conway and Rich Clark, is operating six months ahead of its projected schedule, thanks to a surge in clients from industries including manufacturing, retail, hospitality, and education.
The firm’s success is attributed to its focus on personalized service and robust account management, which have proven vital for businesses navigating a complex utilities market and rising energy costs. This week, Greenfields announced the appointment of Kim Haddock as its new account director, following the hiring of Neil Freeman and Lindsay Williams last year. Williams joined as head of the energy bureau, further strengthening the team.
With offices in the Black Country and Sussex, Greenfields has positioned itself as a trusted partner for businesses seeking stability and cost savings in an unpredictable energy market. Liam Conway, a 15-year industry veteran, explained, “Businesses are under pressure from rising costs and are looking for ways to improve efficiency, gain market certainty, and reduce expenses. Many have been let down by poor deals and lack of ongoing support, so they want a consultant who offers consistent advice and insight—not just a one-time fix.”
Conway emphasized the company’s client-first approach, stating, “Our account directors are each responsible for no more than 50 clients at a time. This allows them to build strong relationships, visit clients in person, and identify opportunities for savings or green energy solutions.” This strategy has already paid off, with the £1 million revenue milestone achieved ahead of schedule. Conway added that Haddock’s appointment will help drive an additional £500,000 in sales over the next year.
Greenfields provides procurement consultancy for electricity, gas, and water, combining risk management expertise with modern technology and personalized service. The company has also built strong partnerships with industry groups such as the Confederation of British Metalforming (CBM) and the Surface Engineering Association. Recently, Greenfields signed its 100th client, marking another significant achievement.
One of its clients, John Stokes Chrome, a hard chrome plating specialist, has already seen the benefits of Greenfields’ approach. Managing Director Tom Stokes said, “Liam has supported us for years, so moving to Greenfields was an easy decision. Electricity costs are a major expense for us, around £400,000 annually, so having a consultant who provides high engagement, site visits, and constant communication is crucial. Greenfields has also been proactive in working with 30 members of the Surface Engineering Association, which I chair.”
Looking ahead, Conway is optimistic about the company’s growth. “In just 18 months, we’re managing £130 million in utilities spend, which reflects the trust our clients have in us. With our current plans and the addition of two more team members, we aim to grow by another 50% by the end of 2025,” he said.
Greenfields Energy Group’s rapid rise underscores the growing demand for expert energy management in the UK, particularly among manufacturers facing rising costs and market uncertaintY.
