Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a leading defence public sector enterprise, has signed a Rs 610 crore contract to supply the Electro Optic Fire Control System (EOFCS) to the Indian Navy. The announcement was made on Saturday.
The EON-51 system, designed by BEL, will enhance the Indian Navy’s capabilities by providing target search, detection, and classification using advanced electro-optical and thermal imaging technology. The system will be installed and integrated onto Indian Navy platforms.
In a regulatory update, BEL stated, “This indigenous system supports panoramic and sector searches, enabling the tracking of various targets during both day and night. It can also engage targets using medium and short-range gun mounts.”
In addition to the EOFCS contract, BEL has secured other orders worth Rs 352 crore since its last announcement on January 28, 2025. These include contracts for anti-drone systems, fuzes, fire detection and suppression systems, vessel communication systems, spares, and services.
With these new orders, BEL’s total order book for the current fiscal year has reached Rs 11,855 crore.
