Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, has unveiled upgraded cybersecurity features for its SCADAPack™ 470i and 474i smart Remote Terminal Units (RTUs). These enhancements allow operators of critical infrastructure to securely manage RTU access in remote and challenging environments, with the same simplicity as managing employee email accounts.
As cyber threats targeting essential services like water systems and oil and gas pipelines continue to rise, securing operational technology (OT) infrastructure has become a top priority. The SCADAPack 470i and 474i offer an all-in-one solution for remote monitoring and control. They enable users to apply familiar IT security tools, such as Active Directory™, to strengthen OT protection.
These rugged RTUs are built on a flexible Linux platform, allowing them to host edge services, protocols, and applications for seamless OT security integration. They also feature role-based access control (RBAC), which helps operators comply with cybersecurity regulations. Additional security measures include an IP firewall, NAT, and DNP3 secure authentication.
