Mitsubishi Electric India, in collaboration with Mitsubishi Elevator India, has successfully completed the Channappannahalli Lake Rejuvenation Project. The initiative, located near the company’s elevator manufacturing plant, is part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts aimed at restoring the lake and improving the surrounding environment.
Key activities in the rejuvenation include desilting the lake bed, repairing sluice gates, and restoring water inlets and outlets. The project also features the installation of vetiver turf, the construction of elevated walkways, and the establishment of Miyawaki forest plantations. In addition, efforts to improve water quality are underway, alongside civil work such as stormwater drainage and the development of community spaces.
The project further includes the building of culverts, stone revetments, protective fencing, and islands. It also introduces solar and wind-powered lighting, benches, children’s play areas, and an open-air gym. These enhancements are expected to benefit thousands of people living in the area by 2024.
The official handover ceremony took place at the lake in Vemagarh, near Bengaluru, with key representatives from Mitsubishi Electric India, Mitsubishi Elevator India, the Deputy Commissioner of Kolar, the Head of the District Industrial Centre, and the CEO of Vemagarh Village Panchayat in attendance. The event featured a foundation stone laying and ribbon-cutting ceremony.
