Kinetic Group Invests ₹50 Crore in New EV Battery Manufacturing Facility

by sthv

Pune-based Kinetic Group, a prominent player in the automotive components sector, has announced its entry into the electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturing space. The company has set up a new production facility in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, with an investment of ₹50 crore. The plant will produce 60,000 Range-X batteries annually, catering to electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers. These batteries will support both Kinetic’s in-house production and supply to external original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

The facility will manufacture two types of batteries: LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) and NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt), designed to meet the diverse needs of the EV market. Additionally, Kinetic Group is developing prismatic cells specifically for three-wheelers, further expanding its product portfolio.

In addition to LFP batteries, Kinetic Group is developing high-energy-density NMC batteries, which offer longer-lasting power for a wider range of EV uses.

Aligning with India’s EV Growth

India’s EV market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 28.52%, reaching $18.3 billion by 2029. Kinetic Group’s investment in battery manufacturing positions it to meet the rising demand for high-quality EV batteries. The company is also focusing on localizing Battery Management Systems (BMS) and aligning with the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes under the PM E-drive initiative. These efforts support India’s Make in India movement and contribute to the country’s vision of clean mobility.
