Magellan Aerospace Corporation has entered into a preliminary agreement with Aequs Private Limited to explore the creation of a sand casting facility in the Belgaum Aerospace Cluster (BAC) in Karnataka. The joint venture, equally split between both companies, aims to address the increasing sand casting demands in the growing aerospace sector, serving both commercial and defense applications.
This is the second partnership between Aequs and the Canadian aerospace company. Last year, they agreed to set up an aircraft engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility in Karnataka.
The companies emphasized that these partnerships strengthen the ongoing collaboration between Aequs and Magellan, both focused on delivering innovative solutions to clients worldwide. Aequs highlighted Magellan’s expertise in sand casting, particularly in North America, where the company uses an advanced chemically bonded sand process to create intricate casting designs.
Currently, India has a limited number of aerospace-certified NADCAP sand casting facilities. This new venture is designed to expand the region’s sand casting capabilities and enhance the aerospace manufacturing ecosystem in Southeast Asia.

Aequs pointed out that the Indian aerospace industry has grown significantly in recent years, supported by government policies like Make in India and UDAN, increased private sector involvement, and rising air traffic.
