Matmut Group and Inocel have announced a partnership to install a hydrogen generator at Matmut’s headquarters in Rouen, France. This initiative is part of the company’s strategic goals for 2024-2026.
The move is aligned with Matmut’s commitment to cleaner energy, which is a key element of its ‘Objective: Impact!’ strategy.
Matmut is not just installing the hydrogen generator as a part of its decarbonization efforts, but it is also providing significant support to fuel cell supplier Inocel. The partnership goes beyond financial investment, as Matmut’s employees will collaborate with Inocel’s teams. Their involvement will help address technical and regulatory challenges, ultimately improving the hydrogen generator solutions.
Nicolas Gomart, Vice-President and CEO of Matmut, emphasized that the company remains closely connected to key players in the economy, including startups and small businesses. He also highlighted energy sovereignty as a critical issue for both France and Europe, particularly regarding energy independence. “Hydrogen fuel cells offer a promising and sustainable solution, and we are committed to supporting the growth of this technology,” Gomart added.
Earlier this year, Inocel formed a partnership with Equans to supply fuel cells for hydrogen generation equipment. The collaboration aims to offer hydrogen energy storage and generation solutions, ranging from 300 kW to several megawatts.
Jules Billiet, CEO of Inocel, praised the partnership with Matmut, stating, “This project shows that Inocel’s hydrogen generators provide decarbonized energy solutions that are ideal for businesses looking for reliable and high-performance options during the energy transition.”
In a related development, French hydrogen producer Lhyfe recently signed a four-year agreement with Inocel to supply 140 tonnes of green hydrogen for its test benches.
