Zenvo Automotive, a Danish manufacturer known for its limited-edition hypercars, has announced that it continues to make strong progress in the development of its V12 hypercar, Aurora. The company, based in Præstø, Denmark, revealed that Ricardo, a leading UK-based engineering firm, has been selected as the transmission partner for the project.
Ricardo, headquartered in Shoreham-by-Sea, England, brings decades of expertise in designing high-performance gearboxes and transmissions for some of the world’s top supercars and hypercars. Zenvo believes this collaboration will be key in ensuring the Aurora delivers thrilling driving experiences at any speed, whether on the road or the track.
Jon Gunner, Zenvo’s Chief Technical Officer, commented: “Ricardo has played a crucial role in the performance of some of the world’s most exciting cars. They know exactly what it takes to achieve engineering precision and engage drivers. The Aurora programme is picking up speed and entering a critical phase.”
He added: “Having Ricardo as a technical partner is a major milestone as we continue pushing the boundaries of performance. The development is ramping up as we move toward the first engine start-up.”
The Aurora will feature a transmission system that offers both four-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive options. It will work in tandem with a custom-built 6.6-liter quad-turbo V12 engine, named ‘Mjølner’. The seven-speed hybrid system will be capable of delivering 1,850 horsepower and 1,500 Nm of torque.
Richard Guest, Managing Director of Performance Products at Ricardo, said: “We’re excited to be named as the transmission partner for Zenvo’s Aurora programme. Like Zenvo, we take a no-compromise approach to performance. We’re proud to bring our extensive experience in driveline innovation to this project and look forward to supporting the development of Zenvo’s lightest and most powerful road car yet.”
