This not only improves precision but also speeds up production and cuts costs, boosting overall efficiency.”
The investment is also creating opportunities for workforce development. Milltek is offering comprehensive training programs in laser welding, enabling both existing staff and new apprentices to quickly master the technique. “No prior experience is needed,” Hall explained. “This initiative allows us to upskill our team rapidly, providing them with valuable expertise and supporting their professional growth.”
The upgrade comes at a crucial time for Milltek, which sold over 16,500 performance exhaust systems in the past year. Streamlining production is essential to meet growing demand. The company has a long history of adopting innovative technologies, including plastic prototyping and 3D printing, to enhance both development and manufacturing processes.
These technologies enable Milltek to design and modify exhaust systems more efficiently. For example, the company uses modular designs to adapt systems for different applications, such as converting road-legal exhausts for motorsport use while complying with global regulations. Despite its embrace of advanced tools, Milltek remains committed to real-world testing. The company purchases development vehicles for 90% of its new exhaust systems to ensure optimal performance, emissions compliance, noise levels, and heat management.
