Green Tech Industries Opens New Battery Testing Site in Warwickshire

by sthv

Green Tech Industries Ltd, a business focused on battery recycling and re-purposing, has announced the opening of a new testing site in Warwickshire. The company has signed a five-year lease for a 3,100 square foot unit at Sucham Park. This new site will be used for disassembling and testing battery components, which are crucial for the sustainable circular economy.

Sucham Park, a 42,200 square foot development by the Warwickshire Property and Development Group (WPDG), is now fully occupied. Green Tech Industries is the latest company to lease space in the nine-unit park.

Tony Booth, CEO and founder of Green Tech Industries, started the company after recognizing the need to support businesses with waste and recycling challenges in the growing green economy. Since its launch in 2018, the company has focused on developing processes to strip batteries, repurpose parts, and re-certify them for resale.

With a background in motorsport and battery technology, including his role at Williams Advanced Engineering in setting up a battery factory in Coventry, Booth brings significant expertise to his business. He explained, “We aren’t just recycling batteries. We aim to save parts that could still have over 10 years of life left in them. Green technology is growing quickly in the UK, but the development of a circular economy for these technologies has not kept pace.”

The new site at Sucham Park will allow Green Tech Industries to disassemble and test batteries before sending them for repair and re-certification, giving them a second life. Booth emphasized the strategic location of the site, saying, “Sucham Park is in the middle of the UK, with great transport links. It’s secure and close to the automotive supply chain, which positions us well for future growth.”

As operations ramp up, Green Tech Industries plans to expand its workforce to 10 people. The company has also secured additional office space at Sucham Park to accommodate its growing team. The development, managed by WPDG and marketed by Bromwich Hardy, now houses six businesses occupying units ranging from 1,900 to 15,000 square feet.

Rob Andrews, head of development at WPDG, commented, “Green Tech Industries is at the forefront of battery repurposing, which will be vital as battery technology continues to grow. We set out to provide high-quality space for innovative businesses, and it’s clear that demand for such units in Warwickshire is strong.”

Councillor Peter Butlin, deputy leader of Warwickshire County Council, also praised the development. He said, “Sucham Park has become a key location for local businesses and job creation. We welcome Green Tech Industries as the final occupier, and we’re proud of the success achieved here.”

Mark Booth, senior surveyor at Bromwich Hardy, added, “We’re pleased to have secured the final tenant for Sucham Park. The site sets a high standard with its green credentials and will support the growth of all its occupiers.”

Andrew Jones, a partner at Wright Hassall, who advised on the lease for WPDG, concluded, “It’s rewarding to have helped secure tenants for the site so quickly. There’s strong demand for units like these in Warwickshire, and it’s exciting to see local businesses thriving here.”
