Göppingen-based Schuler, a global leader in forming technology, has recently sold four Bêché counterblow hammers of varying sizes, underscoring the growing demand for large forged parts worldwide. These machines are used to produce a wide range of components, from parts for the oil and gas industry and rail sector to flanges and turbine blades for gas turbines and aircraft. Their applications extend far beyond traditional uses in truck or ship drive trains.
Daniel Sauterleute, Sales Manager for Forging Technology at Schuler, highlighted the machines’ capabilities: “Our counterblow hammers deliver high repeat accuracy, even for challenging tasks. This makes it possible to produce smaller batch sizes economically.”
Schuler’s counterblow hammers come in a range of sizes, from the compact DG 20 to the powerful DG 140. The DG 20, with a ram stroke of 840mm, can achieve up to 45 blows per minute. On the other hand, the DG 140 boasts a striking force of 54,000 tonnes, a ram stroke of up to 1,150mm, and a maximum blow frequency of 25 per minute.
The machines are available in two series: HG and DG. The HG series, equipped with a hydraulic drive, is ideal for medium-performance applications. The DG series, featuring a pneumatic drive, is designed to deliver high forming energies, making it suitable for heavy-duty tasks. Both series are built with a robust frame and a precision guidance system, ensuring accuracy and reliability in forging operations.
To further support customers, Schuler offers simulation tools to optimize the forging process. The company also provides advanced networking solutions for forming technology, aimed at boosting productivity and machine availability. These include systems for monitoring operating conditions, press force, energy consumption, and cooling and lubrication circuits. Additionally, Schuler’s ‘Track & Trace’ technology enables component tracking, while ‘Schuler Connect’ uses augmented reality (AR) to provide quick service assistance.
With their versatility, precision, and advanced features, Schuler’s counterblow hammers continue to meet the diverse needs of the global forging industry.
