ABB has finalized its acquisition of Siemens China’s wiring accessories business, a move aimed at expanding ABB’s market reach and enhancing its product offerings in the smart building sector. The deal, first announced in May 2023, brings ABB a comprehensive product portfolio, a robust distribution network spanning 230 cities, and 350 skilled employees. Financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed.
The acquisition is expected to boost ABB’s profitability and broaden its product range, which now includes wiring accessories, smart home systems, smart door locks, and other home automation products. Under a licensing agreement, these products will continue to be marketed under the Siemens brand. With an expanded product lineup and distribution network, ABB is poised to deliver integrated, innovative solutions to modernize buildings, improve energy efficiency, and support global efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
Mike Mustapha, President of ABB’s Electrification Smart Buildings division, emphasized the strategic importance of the acquisition. “This deal strengthens ABB’s position in China’s wiring accessories market and aligns with our commitment to growth in the smart building sector,” he said. “It complements our existing technology portfolio and allows us to meet evolving customer demands by creating safer, smarter, and more sustainable buildings. We are now better equipped to address key local challenges, such as rapid urbanization, energy transition, building electrification, decarbonization, and the integration of advanced AI and digital technologies.”
The acquisition underscores ABB’s focus on providing end-to-end solutions for energy distribution, building automation, and management, positioning the company as a key player in addressing the growing demand for smarter and more sustainable infrastructure in China and beyond.
