Toyota Material Handling Europe has unveiled its new range of electric counterbalanced forklifts, the Toyota Traigo48. Designed for superior performance and versatility, the Traigo48 series is ideal for various material handling tasks, including loading, unloading, stacking, and horizontal transport. Available in both three- and four-wheel models, the range comes in several sizes to meet different operational needs.
The Traigo48 range is equipped with load capacities ranging from 1.5 to 2 tonnes, lift heights up to 7.5 meters, and a top speed of 20 km/h. These features make the forklifts suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications, providing customers with the flexibility to handle a wide range of tasks efficiently.
Jose Maria Gener, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Toyota Material Handling Europe, emphasized the company’s commitment to continuous improvement, known as Kaizen. Flexible Battery Options
The Traigo48 forklifts offer flexible battery options to suit different operational needs. Customers can choose between traditional lead-acid (LAB) batteries and lithium-ion (LIB) batteries. This flexibility ensures that businesses can select the best option based on performance requirements and cost efficiency.
For those looking for ergonomics and faster charging, Toyota also introduces the new Traigo_i model. This version features an integrated lithium-ion battery, which provides powerful performance in a compact, space-saving design. The Traigo_i offers extra legroom for operators, enhancing comfort during extended shifts. Inspired by the sleek design of the katana, the exterior of the Traigo_i showcases Toyota’s signature dynamic frame and cabin design.
The Traigo_i also simplifies charging, with a conveniently integrated charging port in the counterweight. This allows for quicker, more efficient charging. Meanwhile, the standard Traigo48 models, which are equipped with lead-acid batteries, feature a side chassis panel door for easy and efficient battery swaps.
Enhanced Productivity and Efficiency
The Traigo48 range offers significant improvements in energy efficiency. Toyota’s SyncoDrive technology reduces energy consumption compared to previous models, improving overall responsiveness. These forklifts use an Interior Permanent Magnet (IPM) synchronous motor for traction, and advanced controllers for efficient load handling, ensuring smooth and reliable operation across tasks like stacking, loading, unloading, and horizontal transport.
For added performance, the 48-volt electric trucks can be fitted with a high-performance motor for lifting, offering a further boost to productivity. These technological advancements lead to up to 18% reduced energy consumption compared to earlier models, making the Traigo48 an efficient choice for demanding applications.
Operator Comfort and Design
The Traigo_i model takes operator comfort to the next level. With a focus on ergonomics, the forklift offers a spacious cabin and ample legroom, promoting comfort during long shifts. The design of the Traigo_i, centered around the lithium-ion battery, creates a user-friendly environment that encourages productivity.
Magnus Oliveira Andersson, Head of Design at Toyota Material Handling Europe, praised the forklift’s design, saying, “The symmetry of the design enhances both functionality and operational efficiency, giving a fresh perspective on Toyota’s design philosophy.”
Both the Traigo_i and standard models feature upgraded operator compartments. These include a smaller steering wheel, an adjustable steering column, a new armrest with customizable levers, and an integrated color touchscreen display for easier interaction. Visibility is improved with an updated overhead guard and a lower dashboard design. The driver’s compartment is mounted on four suspended dampers, minimizing vibrations and reducing noise, which enhances comfort and reduces fatigue.
An optional wide-visibility glass roof further improves upward visibility, allowing operators to clearly see the forks and loads, improving overall safety.
With these enhancements, the Toyota Traigo48 range sets a new standard in the material handling industry, offering a combination of advanced performance, energy efficiency, and operator comfort.
