Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has marked a significant milestone in India’s nuclear power sector by dispatching the second steam generator to the Kaiga atomic power station in Karnataka. This delivery is part of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd’s (NPCIL) ambitious 10 x 700 MWe Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) Fleet Programme, which aims to enhance the country’s nuclear capabilities with indigenously developed technology.

The shipment was flagged off from L&T’s A M Naik Heavy Engineering Complex in Hazira, Gujarat. Notably, this dispatch occurred 11 months ahead of the contractual delivery schedule, underscoring L&T’s dedication to accelerating India’s nuclear power development. This proactive approach is also in line with the nation’s commitment to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2070.

L&T had previously delivered the first steam generator for the Kaiga atomic power station in March 2024, continuing its streak of timely contributions to India’s nuclear infrastructure.
