US-based GE Aerospace has announced a €78 million investment in its European manufacturing facilities next year. The move aims to boost production capacity, upgrade key sites, and improve quality for both commercial and defense customers. The funding will also help scale up next-generation aircraft engine components, enhancing performance, durability, and efficiency. Additionally, the company plans to create over 500 new jobs across its European locations.
Strengthening Europe’s Aerospace Industry
Riccardo Procacci, President and CEO of Propulsion and Additive Technologies at GE Aerospace, stated: “This major investment reflects our commitment to meeting the aerospace industry’s evolving demands in Europe. It also underscores our dedication to supporting the local economies and communities where we operate.”
A large portion of the funds will go toward new engine test cells, advanced equipment, and AI-powered inspection technology. These upgrades will support production for narrow- and widebody aircraft engines, as well as military fighter jet and helicopter engines.
Country-Specific Investments
The €78 million will be distributed across five European countries, focusing on modernizing facilities and reducing defects through cutting-edge manufacturing techniques.
The breakdown is as follows:
- Italy (€55.6M) – New test cells, inspection tech, and tooling upgrades for aircraft and military engine production.
- Poland (€11.6M) – Additional machinery and facility upgrades for aircraft and military rotorcraft engine components.
- Czech Republic (€5.4M) – New machines and tooling for turboprop engine parts.
- UK (€3.3M) – Expanded production setups for new components and propeller system servicing.
- Romania (€2.3M) – High-precision metal-shaping machines and facility improvements.
Building on Previous Investments
This latest commitment follows GE Aerospace’s €64 million manufacturing investment in 2024 and a €122 million boost to its maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities in Europe. The company continues to strengthen its role as a key player in the European aerospace sector, supporting local workers and suppliers.
Workforce Development Initiatives
GE Aerospace is also investing in workforce training, including apprenticeship programs in the UK and Poland, which train around 100 individuals annually. Last year, the company expanded its Next Engineers program to Poland and donated to the ITS Academy in Turin, Italy, to support manufacturing education.
This strategic investment reinforces GE Aerospace’s long-term presence in Europe, ensuring it remains at the forefront of aerospace innovation.
