Seco Tools, a leading global tooling manufacturer, is making a significant move towards sustainability by switching to packaging made from 98-100% recycled materials. This transition is expected to reduce the company’s carbon emissions by approximately 131 tons annually.
The company, which operates a subsidiary, Seco Tools (UK) Ltd, in Alcester, views this shift as a crucial step in meeting its long-term sustainability targets. These include achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2035 and reaching 90% circularity by 2030.
The new packaging, which is made from recycled polypropylene or polyethylene depending on the supplier, maintains the high-quality standards that customers expect. It is designed to be just as durable and reliable as previous packaging while helping to reduce the company’s environmental impact.
Seco Tools assures its customers that the switch to recycled grey plastic packaging will not affect the performance or protection of the tools. The company is committed to ensuring the same level of quality, while also contributing to a more sustainable future.
To ensure a smooth transition and minimize waste, Seco will initially use its existing stock of white virgin plastic packaging. Customers may receive a combination of both packaging types during this phase.
Maria Blomqvist, Seco’s Vice President of Sustainability and EHS, commented, “At Seco, sustainability is not just a responsibility; it’s an opportunity to lead by example. By switching to recycled plastic packaging, we are making a meaningful step in reducing our environmental footprint while still delivering the quality our customers expect.”
This move aligns with Seco’s mission to make manufacturing faster, easier, and more sustainable. The company believes that customers who choose its products are actively supporting a greener future by backing a brand dedicated to eco-conscious manufacturing.
