In a significant step towards sustainability in India’s construction industry, ARS Steel has delivered the country’s first green Thermo-Mechanically Treated (TMT) bars to the Trimetro Group. This marks the beginning of an eco-friendly initiative for the construction of Epic Group’s new manufacturing facility in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The partnership aims to promote green infrastructure and contribute to India’s net-zero emission goals.
Epic Group, a Hong Kong-based leader in sustainable fashion, is investing INR 377 crore to build a green manufacturing facility in India. The facility is designed to run with net-zero energy and water consumption, setting a new standard for green industrial development. A key component of the project is the use of ARS Steel’s ultra-low emission TMT bars, which were delivered with the support of Sentra.World, a tech-driven startup focused on decarbonizing industrial manufacturing.
India is taking the lead in defining “green steel” with a new rating system that classifies steel with an emission intensity below 1.6 tCO₂/tfs as 5-star rated. ARS Steel stands out with an emission intensity of just 0.59 tCO₂/tfs—four times greener than the average TMT bar. This innovation has helped reduce the embodied carbon of Epic Group’s facility by about 20%, shifting from traditional blast furnace steel production to a cleaner, electric-based process.
Sentra.World has played a crucial role in ensuring carbon transparency throughout the supply chain. Their real-time emissions monitoring system and AI-powered quality control provide detailed insights into carbon emissions and grade chemistry, helping support the development of sustainable, circular supply chains in construction.
“We are committed to sustainability at Epic. Our collaboration with ARS Steel, along with Sentra.World’s expertise, has allowed us to reduce our carbon footprint while maintaining high quality. This project sets a new benchmark for eco-friendly construction in India and underscores our dedication to a sustainable future,” said Ranjan Mahtani, Founder and Chairman of Epic Group.
“We are proud to be part of India’s first green steel project, supplying TMT bars that contribute to net-zero buildings. Our focus on quality and sustainability ensures that we produce steel that strengthens structures while minimizing environmental impact. This partnership with Epic and Sentra.World is a key step towards a greener, cleaner future,” said Ashwani Kumar Bhatia, Managing Director of ARS Steel.
“Sentra.World’s mission is to help industries measure, mitigate, and monetize their carbon emissions using innovative technology. This project has been a milestone for us, as it integrates transparency and traceability into the supply chain, setting new standards for sustainable procurement practices in India,” said Harsh Choudhry, Co-founder and CEO of Sentra.World.
