KnitMesh Technologies, a UK-based leader in knitted wire mesh solutions, has entered a strategic partnership with GKD, a German global market leader in technical mesh solutions. The collaboration aims to merge the strengths of both companies to create advanced and integrated solutions for emerging markets, particularly hydrogen (H2) production and mobility. The partnership will primarily focus on expanding offerings in Europe and the USA.
The collaboration will benefit customers of both companies by providing a broader product range and improving the overall value chain. A key area of focus is hydrogen production, specifically in alkaline electrolysis. GKD’s technical meshes for electrodes and KnitMesh Technologies’ knitted wire mesh, used as elastic components, will be combined to deliver complete solutions. Other products, such as bipolar plates and full electrolyser cell assemblies, will also be part of the new offering.
This partnership also opens up opportunities in the mobility sector, which both companies already serve. The combination of mesh elements with knitted wire mesh components could bring new possibilities for suppliers and manufacturers. As an initial step, the companies will integrate their joint solutions into their product portfolios.
Strengthening Capabilities for a Sustainable Future
Peter Evans, Managing Director of KnitMesh Technologies, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “We are excited to combine our expertise in knitted wire mesh with GKD’s leadership in woven wire mesh. Together, we can offer a complete range of knitted and woven wire mesh products, including multi-component assemblies, setting a new standard for our industry. Our shared commitment to excellence will bring significant benefits to our customers.”
In addition to technological collaboration, the companies plan to closely work on customer support and market development. Both companies will train their sales teams through specialized programs to ensure they are well-equipped to handle the expanded product range.
KnitMesh Technologies and GKD will showcase their combined expertise at the World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam from May 20-22. The event will highlight their innovative solutions for hydrogen technology and their contributions to a sustainable future.
