LAPP, a global leader in cable and connection technology, has introduced its latest innovation, the ÖLFLEX® HEAT 700 SC, at the 2025 Hannover Messe (Hall 11, Stand C15). This new cable is designed to endure extreme heat, capable of withstanding temperatures up to 700°C, making it ideal for industries that experience intense heat where traditional cables would fail.
In many industrial settings, cables with a PVC sheath typically handle temperatures between 70-90°C, suitable for factories and plants with standard operating conditions. However, when temperatures exceed 100°C, heat-resistant cables become crucial. LAPP’s existing range of heat-resistant cables already meets the needs of these industries, and the ÖLFLEX® HEAT 700 SC takes this technology to the next level.
The cable’s exceptional heat resistance comes from its innovative design and choice of materials. Unlike previous models that used pure nickel strands, the new ÖLFLEX® HEAT 700 SC incorporates nickel-plated copper conductors. Its insulation combines glass fibre layers and a glass fibre braid, providing superior protection against extreme temperatures.
Felix Graner, Product Manager at LAPP, said, “We’ve spent several years refining the structure. The combination of advanced conductors and insulation materials allows us to achieve higher temperature resistance.” The nickel-plated copper conductors improve electrical conductivity and dielectric strength, while enabling the use of smaller conductor cross-sections compared to pure nickel versions. Additionally, the cable is halogen-free and flame-retardant, reducing the risk of fire spread in hazardous environments.
This single-core cable is ideal for environments with both high energy and extreme temperatures. It is designed for fixed installations in industries like foundries, heating modules, electric cookers, smelting plants, steelworks, chemical industries, and machine construction. Rated for 300/500 volts, it is well-suited for a variety of high-demand applications.
