A Munich-based startup, ecoplanet, has won the prestigious HERMES Startup Award this year. The award recognizes the company’s groundbreaking energy management technology and was presented by Cem Özdemir, Germany’s Federal Minister of Education and Research, at the official opening of the HANNOVER MESSE last week.
Ecoplanet was selected for its AI-driven platform, the ecoplanet Cockpit, which helps businesses track and optimize their energy consumption in real time. The platform is designed to leverage dynamic pricing and integrate renewable energy sources, enabling companies to reduce energy costs by up to 20% while cutting CO2 emissions. It also automates energy monitoring, procurement, and grid fee optimization, giving businesses improved transparency and better planning capabilities.
Professor Dr-Ing Holger Hanselka, president of the Fraunhofer Society and chair of the independent jury, praised the company’s impact, saying, “Intelligent energy monitoring is essential for the energy transition. When companies optimize their consumption, they can reduce energy use, lower CO2 emissions, and save on operational costs. Ecoplanet’s AI-based platform has already helped businesses achieve measurable cost savings, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises. I congratulate ecoplanet on this well-deserved recognition.”
The HERMES Startup Award, presented annually by Deutsche Messe, celebrates companies founded within the past five years that demonstrate outstanding technological innovation. The award ceremony traditionally takes place during the opening of HANNOVER MESSE.
