Hindustan Power, led by Chairman Ratul Puri, has secured a 425 megawatt peak (MWp) solar power project from Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL). The contract is part of UPPCL’s plan to add 2,000 megawatts alternating current (MWac) of solar power to the grid. The project was awarded through a competitive, tariff-based bidding process.
The Letter of Award (LoA) was issued to Hindustan Power following a transparent e-Reverse Auction. The company will supply power to UPPCL through the state transmission utility (STU) substation in Uttar Pradesh. Under the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), UPPCL will buy power at a fixed rate for 25 years. The project is expected to be completed within 24 months from the date of the PPA signing.
Ratul Puri called the win a milestone in the company’s growth. “This strengthens our commitment to India’s clean energy targets,” he said. “We remain on track to reach our goal of a 5-gigawatt (GW) renewable energy portfolio by 2028. We look forward to supporting Uttar Pradesh’s increasing demand for green energy with another high-quality solar project.”
Hindustan Power has long been active in India’s renewable energy market. With this new 425MWp project, the company has further expanded its presence in the solar sector. The win supports India’s wider push to adopt clean energy and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
As a leading integrated power producer, Hindustan Power continues to focus on sustainability and innovation. The company aims to play a key role in India’s transition to renewable energy sources and contribute meaningfully to the country’s energy future.
