TP Solar Limited, the solar manufacturing arm of Tata Power, has joined hands with Guidance Tamil Nadu and the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) to launch a new three-year course titled Diploma in Renewable Energy. The initiative is designed to build a skilled workforce to meet the growing demands of India’s clean energy sector.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for this program was signed in the presence of Anupama Ratta, Chief Human Resources Officer of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), Dr. Darez Ahamed IAS, Managing Director and CEO of Guidance Tamil Nadu, and J. Innocent Divya IAS, Commissioner of Technical Education.
The program, which adopts an ‘Earn While Learn’ model, will combine academic learning with real-world industry training. Students will spend three months in the classroom and nine months working in industry placements each year. They will also receive a monthly stipend during the course to support their studies.
The course will begin in the 2025–26 academic year and will be offered at selected Government Polytechnic Colleges across Tamil Nadu. Initially, 240 students from districts around Tirunelveli will be admitted. The program aims to boost local skills and create job-ready graduates in the renewable energy field.
This collaboration is expected to narrow the gap between classroom education and industry needs. By equipping students with hands-on experience and technical knowledge, the initiative hopes to accelerate India’s transition to clean energy.
