Mills CNC to Showcase New Technologies at Manufacturing Solutions – Ireland

by sthv

Mills CNC, the exclusive distributor of DN Solutions and Zayer machine tools in the UK and Ireland, is set to make an impact at this year’s Manufacturing Solutions – Ireland exhibition. Taking place on June 11-12 at Stand T1/T22, the company aims to further strengthen its growing presence in the Irish market by showcasing one of its newest machines.

One of the highlights will be the debut of the second-generation DN Solutions DVF 5000, a simultaneous five-axis machining center. This advanced machine will be displayed with Siemens’ Sinumerik One CNC control system, featuring digital twin technology. According to Tony Dale, Group CEO of Mills CNC, the new generation of five-axis machines will revolutionize the market and make “one-hit” machining a practical solution for many manufacturers.

The new DVF 5000s are faster, more accurate, and more flexible than their predecessors. They come equipped with high-speed, oil-cooled spindles (15,000-20,000 rpm), large rotary tilting tables with a 630mm diameter, and thermal compensation sensors. With rapid travel speeds of up to 42m/min on the X, Y, and Z axes, these machines also feature large tool changers, accommodating up to 120 tools, and quick tool changeover times.

The first-generation DVF 5000 models, launched by Mills CNC in 2018, quickly became a top choice for many component manufacturers in the UK and Ireland. Mills CNC is confident that the new, second-generation models will be just as successful.

Setting New Standards with Sinumerik One

The Sinumerik One CNC control system is Siemens’ latest offering, designed specifically for high-productivity machines like the DVF 5000. The system integrates real and virtual machining worlds, optimizing both CNC and PLC performance. This innovation is expected to set new standards in machining speeds, process efficiencies, and overall flexibility.

The Sinumerik One features advanced capabilities such as 3D simulation with collision protection, 3000-block look-ahead for smooth contouring, and quick data transfer for enhanced productivity. Its open-architecture control combines CNC, iHMI, PLC, and communication functions in a single unit. Additionally, the system includes a user-friendly interface and a 15-inch touchscreen for easy programming and operation.

One of the standout features of the Sinumerik One is its digital twin technology. This allows users to simulate and verify part programs before running them on the shop floor, ensuring optimal program accuracy, speed, and safety. The digital twin also serves as a powerful training tool, allowing operators and programmers to be virtually trained without needing a physical machine.

A Strong Presence in Ireland

Mills CNC’s CEO, Tony Dale, emphasized the importance of the Irish market for the company. “We are excited to present groundbreaking technologies at this year’s Manufacturing Solutions – Ireland trade show. Our new DVF 5000 will surely attract attention, and the Sinumerik One digital twin technology, presented by our CNC Training Academy staff, will also be a major draw.”

With these innovations, Mills CNC continues to strengthen its position as a leader in the machine tool sector.
