The National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI) and SolarPower Europe have signed a new agreement to enhance cooperation in solar manufacturing between India and the European Union. This partnership is expected to create new business opportunities, attract funding, and contribute to the global transition to cleaner, more resilient energy systems.
The alliance aims to establish a reliable and diversified supply chain for solar components, especially as international trade dynamics evolve. The agreement builds on the existing cooperation between the two organizations and is formalized through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Under this MoU, both regions will leverage their strengths—Europe’s expertise in high-efficiency technologies and India’s rapidly expanding domestic manufacturing sector. The goal is to develop joint solar projects and unlock investment in production and supply chain infrastructure.
The agreement also focuses on addressing regulatory challenges that limit access to solar equipment markets. Both groups will work together to engage with policymakers and explore new areas for collaboration.
“This updated agreement opens up fresh opportunities for European manufacturers, developers, and technology providers, while supporting India’s ambition to expand its solar capacity,” said Máté Heisz, Chief Operating Officer at SolarPower Europe.
Subrahmanyam Pulipaka, CEO of NSEFI, added, “Our collaboration will foster innovation, cross-border investments, and a stronger manufacturing base, benefiting both India and Europe, while contributing to the global clean energy transition.”
This renewed cooperation is part of SolarPower Europe’s International Solar Manufacturing Initiative (ISMI), which aims to promote joint ventures and collaborative manufacturing in countries like India, particularly in upstream technology and equipment production.
