A key conference aimed at improving efficiency and promoting sustainability in engineering and manufacturing will take place later this month. The EMN Spring Conference (EMConf) – Maintenance, Repair, Operations & Asset Management will be held on 29 April at The Work Place in Newton Aycliffe.
The event will focus on the latest innovations and best practices in maintenance, repairs, and asset management. Organized by the Engineering and Manufacturing Network (EMN) and sponsored by SMS Technology Ltd, the conference will feature expert speakers from the engineering and manufacturing sectors. Their insights will help businesses improve operations and adopt new technologies. Topics will include preventative maintenance, automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity.
Confirmed speakers include:
- Mark Cawley, CEO of RS Industrial Services
- Mark Griffiths, Chief Commercial Officer of New Motion Labs
- Chris Mosley, Manufacturing Manager at Industrial and Marine Hydraulics (IMH)
- Jon Elwell, Founder of T Box Tech
- Martin Reynolds, Director at SUBCO Engineering
- David Crosby, Technical Director at CMYK Technology Ltd
The conference will also include a panel discussion on the topic of “Repair and Replace,” along with opportunities for networking during breakfast and lunch. The event is designed for maintenance engineers, team leaders, managers, and senior leadership teams in the engineering and manufacturing sectors.
A Focus on Innovation and Knowledge Sharing
Developed from County Durham’s strong engineering and manufacturing background, EMN is a long-established network that connects businesses across North East England. From small enterprises to multinational corporations, the network aims to strengthen the regional engineering and manufacturing community.
Ailsa Anderson, EMN’s Director of Development, expressed excitement about the upcoming conference. “Following the success of EMConf 2024, where we addressed recruitment and retention challenges, we are thrilled to bring the community together once again to focus on maintenance and asset management,” she said.
She added, “Our speakers will offer valuable insights into new technology, which delegates can use to improve their own businesses. The event will also provide opportunities for attendees to share experiences, learn from peers, and build meaningful connections.”
Richard Bradley, Chairman of EMN and Managing Director of Dyer Engineering, emphasized the importance of the conference. “As businesses face growing pressure to be more efficient and reduce their environmental impact, the need for innovative maintenance practices and new technologies is clear,” he stated. “We’re excited to provide an opportunity for sector professionals to gain new knowledge and discuss their challenges with peers.”
Expanding EMN’s Reach and Impact
EMN aims to have 80% of its members from engineering and manufacturing sectors, with the remaining 20% from service industries. Membership offers access to impartial advice, community support, workshops, site visits, and the annual EMCON showcase.
EMCON 2024 attracted nearly 900 visitors and over 100 exhibitors. This year’s event will take place on 18 September at Sunderland Live in Houghton-le-Spring.
EMConf – Maintenance, Repair, Operations & Asset Management is free for EMN members and engineering and manufacturing businesses, with tickets priced at £16.96 for service providers who are not members.
