Tata Elxsi (BSE: 500408), a global design and engineering company, has signed a multi-year contract worth €50 million with a major European car manufacturer. The deal will see Tata Elxsi play a key role in the development of software and platforms in several areas, including electric mobility, body systems, chassis design, and software-defined vehicle (SDV) technologies.
As part of the agreement, Tata Elxsi will establish a dedicated Global Engineering Centre to support the carmaker’s long-term software objectives. The centre will focus on creating an integrated technology foundation, which includes a custom operating system, electronic framework, and an automotive cloud platform. These systems are designed to enhance in-vehicle features, enable over-the-air updates, and facilitate cross-brand software integration.
Tata Elxsi was chosen for its deep expertise in automotive systems such as electrification, in-car systems, cybersecurity, and body controls. Its strong track record of delivering high-quality solutions for global automakers and suppliers also played a significant role in securing the deal. The company’s ability to align its engineering support with its customer’s roadmap was a critical factor in the partnership.
Recently, Tata Elxsi launched AVENIR™, a development and testing platform aimed at helping automakers create modular, cloud-ready software that can operate both in vehicles and cloud environments. AVENIR™ is part of a broader set of solutions, including AUTONOMAI, a system supporting advanced driver assistance features; TETHER, a platform for connected vehicle services; and MOBIUS+, a tool for managing digital product documentation. These offerings are supported by a growing network of innovation labs focused on advancing connected, autonomous, electric, and software-defined vehicle technologies.
