Škoda Auto marked the end of the school year at its educational facilities in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic, with the unveiling of the 10th Škoda Student Car. This year, 28 students from the Škoda Auto Secondary Vocational School of Engineering designed the car, drawing inspiration from the company’s 130th anniversary.
Maren Gräf, a board member at Škoda Auto, expressed excitement over the new creation. “The 10th Škoda Student Car is a key part of our 130th anniversary celebrations. It’s great to see the growing interest in our long-running Student Car program. With such significant anniversaries this year, the expectations for this car were high. I’m confident that the students’ hard work and dedication will result in an exceptional concept car when it is officially revealed in June,” she said.
Every year, Škoda’s students aim to develop an innovative and fun concept that adds something unique to the company’s vehicle lineup. The process begins with sketches and moves into the bodywork phase. Students work to ensure structural integrity while staying true to the original design. They receive guidance from Škoda Auto experts in areas like Technical Development, Design, and more throughout the entire process.
Since 2013, Škoda Auto has invested €18.2 million in modernizing its training and technical equipment at the Škoda Academy, with support from the KOVO Trade Union. This investment led to the creation of a new, specialized Student Car workshop in recently refurbished facilities, with a focus on electromobility and digitalization. These upgrades, however, delayed the unveiling of the 10th Student Car until 2025.
Maren Gräf added, “These investments have expanded training opportunities for students at the Škoda Auto Secondary Vocational School of Engineering and enhanced the skills of our employees. This is crucial as the automotive industry continues to evolve.”
