Guangdong Hotman Machine Tool Co Ltd, a prominent Chinese manufacturer of high-precision grinding machines, has successfully launched a new series of vertical non-circular grinding (NCG) machines. The new machines benefit from NUM’s advanced CNC technology and NUMgrind software, marking a significant step forward in Hotman’s innovation efforts. This collaboration has allowed the company to enter the market faster, increase efficiency, and offer greater flexibility in grinding complex workpieces.
Founded in 2003, Hotman has quickly become a key player in China’s grinding machine industry. The company’s strong emphasis on research and development has resulted in an extensive product portfolio, which includes nearly 100 models across 12 different grinding categories.
In 2018, Hotman began working with NUM, and their partnership grew further during the DMP Shenzhen 2021 trade fair. At that time, Hotman was looking for an advanced CNC solution for non-circular vertical grinding. The company needed a solution that not only provided powerful CNC control but also seamlessly integrated both CNC hardware and specialized grinding software.
NUM’s Flexium+ CNC system and NUMgrind software proved to be the ideal match for Hotman’s needs. The system offered a highly efficient, reliable, and flexible platform to develop Hotman’s Z850 vertical NCG grinding machine.
The Z850 represents a major advancement in precision grinding technology. Designed specifically for non-circular grinding, the machine allows manufacturers to achieve high accuracy, consistency, and productivity. It is especially well-suited for complex workpieces requiring precise shaping.
Thanks to NUM’s advanced CNC solutions, Hotman was able to reduce software development costs, speed up time-to-market, and enhance the performance of its machines. One of the most notable aspects of this collaboration was the rapid development process. The entire system, including development, testing, and commissioning, was completed within just two months—a remarkable achievement that enabled Hotman to bring its new vertical NCG grinding machine series to market quickly.
Mr. Zeng, Chairman of Hotman, emphasized the benefits of working with NUM, saying, “NUMgrind software has greatly improved our ability to manufacture a wide range of complex workpieces. It simplifies the programming process, even for intricate shapes. The import cross-section profile function is especially useful for producing components like camshafts and eccentric workpieces.”
The ability to quickly program a variety of workpieces has opened new market opportunities for Hotman and strengthened its leadership position in the industry. The success of this project lays a strong foundation for an even closer partnership between Hotman and NUM. With NUM’s cutting-edge technology and Hotman’s expertise in precision grinding, both companies are poised to drive future innovation and growth in the market.
