Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, has made a significant technological breakthrough by developing a fuel-less electricity generating plant. The Rector of the Polytechnic, Professor Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, emphasized the institution’s dedication to advancing technology for entrepreneurial and societal problem-solving purposes.

During the presentation of this innovative generator, developed by a team of the polytechnic’s engineers, Professor Ufuophu-Biri highlighted the potential of this technology to fulfill a substantial portion of the institution’s energy requirements.

The 2.5KVA fuel-less generator is described as self-sustaining, operating for extended periods without the need for solar, fossil fuel, or biofuel. The Rector pointed out that this cutting-edge invention is poised for global commercialization.

“Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, is committed to the advancement of science, technology, and research,” Ufuophu-Biri stated, noting the institution’s high-caliber faculty and staff. He dedicated this achievement to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, acknowledging his role in fostering an environment conducive to education, intellectual development, and innovative progress.

Ufuophu-Biri added, “We will present this innovation to the Commissioner for Higher Education, the Commissioner for Science and Technology, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and other relevant bodies for broader acceptance, adoption, and mass production.”

He emphasized that the core purpose of research in humanities, science, and technology is to provide solutions to existing challenges. “The mass production of the fuel-less generator will significantly contribute to addressing the nation’s energy shortage problem,” he concluded.
