The U.S. Special Operations Command Pacific Civil Military Support Element (CMSE), in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines, has donated 12 disaster relief generators to the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, and Palawan. The donation, which took place on June 28, aims to enhance disaster preparedness and response capabilities in these regions.
The generators will be strategically placed in critical locations such as emergency operations centers, local airports, emergency broadcast stations, and evacuation centers. These installations are intended to provide backup power for essential services during natural disasters, ensuring the continuity of life-sustaining operations.
At the donation ceremony, Batanes Provincial Governor Mailou H. Cayco highlighted the significance of this contribution in bolstering her province’s resilience and crisis response capabilities.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the U.S. Embassy for their unwavering commitment and support to our province and for their dedication to fostering strong ties between our nations,” said Gov. Cayco.
The delivery of the 12 generators was the result of months of collaborative efforts between the CMSE and multiple government units across the Philippines, underscoring the importance of international cooperation in disaster preparedness.
“My team witnessed the dedication of the Filipino people to create a safer and more prosperous Philippines,” said Capt. Mathew Goldstein, Civil Military Support Element team lead. “We are honored to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our ally and partner to ensure a sustainable future.”
This donation exemplifies the enduring partnership between the United States and the Philippines, as both nations continue to work together towards enhanced resilience and disaster readiness.
