Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has been awarded a significant contract by Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) for the development of the 2×800 MW Koderma Phase-II power station in Koderma district, Jharkhand. The contract, valued at over ₹10,000 crore excluding taxes and duties, marks a substantial milestone for BHEL. This project will be executed on an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) basis, where BHEL will be responsible for all aspects of engineering, procurement, and construction.
The project is expected to be completed within a span of 52 months. BHEL’s responsibilities include supplying critical equipment such as boilers, turbines, and generators, along with associated auxiliaries. Additionally, BHEL will provide electrical and control systems, instrumentation, and complete the balance of plant packages. The company is also tasked with the erection, commissioning, and civil works necessary for the power station’s completion.
BHEL’s shares closed at ₹317.25, reflecting a rise of ₹6.10 or 1.96 percent on the Bombay Stock Exchange. The company’s stock has seen a notable increase over the past year, peaking at ₹335.40 on July 9. This marks a dramatic rise from ₹94.80 on August 7, 2023, representing an impressive 254 percent growth over approximately 11 months. In 2023, BHEL delivered a 206.58 percent return to its investors. For the current financial year, the stock has gained 60 percent, with a 6.75 percent increase over the past month and a 6.85 percent rise in the past week.
