Raritan Township has been awarded a $459,000 grant from Representative Tom Kean Jr. to purchase and install new generators at the Raritan Township Municipal Building and Police Department.

County commission director Jeff Kuhl emphasized the importance of the grant, stating, “The funds for the new backup generator systems in Raritan Township are crucial for maintaining local government operations and ensuring the delivery of essential services during severe weather events and extended power outages.”

The grant presentation was attended by several key figures, including Raritan Mayor Scott Sipose, Police Chief Al Payne, Deputy Mayor Bob King, Committeeman Scott Dade, OEM Coordinator Chris Phelan, as well as local firefighters and emergency personnel.

This funding is part of a broader initiative, with $24 million in community project funding allocated for fiscal year 2024, benefiting 13 projects across six counties within New Jersey’s Seventh Congressional District.
