XUZHOU, China, Aug. 8, 2024 — In a pioneering move to enhance power reliability, the State Grid Xuzhou Power Supply Company has successfully integrated low-voltage power generators into its grid infrastructure. This significant development was demonstrated during a recent operation at pole 55 on the 10 kV Shan Li line in Xuzhou, Jiangsu. For the first time in the region, this technology was deployed to maintain continuous electricity supply during scheduled distribution network outages.

Low-voltage power generators are celebrated for their rapid deployment capabilities and intelligent operational features. To mitigate the risk of power interruptions during the high-demand summer months, the State Grid Xuzhou Power Supply Company has launched an “Enhanced Power Generation Operational Plan for High-Temperature Periods.” This plan, tailored to local conditions, aims to bolster the reliability of electricity supply through improved power generation strategies and equipment reinforcement.

During the recent operation on the Shan Li line, the integration of the low-voltage power generator was seamlessly executed using a synchronous grid integration device. The generator temporarily supported the electrical load for downstream users while the transformer adjustments were carried out. The transition back to grid power was conducted without any noticeable impact on user electricity services, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted power supply.

Since the beginning of July, the State Grid Xuzhou Power Supply Company has incorporated six additional low-voltage power generators into its operations. To date, the company has conducted 225 power generation operations, achieving a notable saving of approximately 4,750 household-hours of electricity. Moving forward, the company is committed to the principles of “maintaining continuous operation” and “maximizing generation capacity” to strengthen its support for peak summer electricity demands.
