Four individuals have been apprehended in connection with the theft of generators from a Tractor Supply store, according to a statement from the Ennis Police Department.
The theft occurred on July 30, 2024, during the early afternoon hours. An alert Tractor Supply employee notified authorities about the stolen items, providing a description of the suspect vehicle and a partial license plate number. Ennis Police Communications quickly informed officers that a black minivan was traveling northbound on the IH-45 service road.
An Ennis Police Officer promptly identified the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. However, two of the four suspects fled on foot. The officer was able to detain the remaining suspects and recover the stolen generators from the vehicle.
Additional officers from the Ennis Police Department arrived on the scene and established a perimeter to track down the fleeing suspects. The search was supported by an Ennis Police Department Drone Officer, an Ellis County K-9 Officer, and a Palmer Police Officer.
The fleeing suspects were eventually captured without further incident, thanks to the coordinated efforts of local law enforcement agencies. All four suspects face charges of Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. Additionally, the two individuals who attempted to evade arrest have been charged with Evading Arrest Detention.
“We commend the vigilant citizen who reported the incident to the Ennis Police Department,” said a police spokesperson. “This case demonstrates the effectiveness of teamwork and the application of our training in collaboration with other responding departments.”
The Ennis Police Department extended its gratitude to their officers, the Criminal Investigation Division, the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, and the Palmer Police Department for their professionalism and commitment to public service.
“This incident underscores the importance of community involvement,” the spokesperson added. “If you witness suspicious activity, please report it. We are dedicated to protecting and serving this community with honor and vigilance.”
