Oklo Inc. (NYSE: OKLO), a pioneer in fast fission clean energy and nuclear fuel recycling, has solidified a strategic partnership with Siemens Energy. This agreement, a significant milestone in Oklo’s supply chain management, involves Siemens Energy providing steam turbine generator products and services for Oklo’s Aurora powerhouse.

The Preferred Supplier Agreement builds on a previously established Memorandum of Understanding, underscoring Oklo’s commitment to making advanced fission technology more cost-effective and scalable. This agreement is expected to streamline production, reduce costs, and accelerate the deployment of Oklo’s technology to meet rising market demands.

Siemens Energy will supply key components for the power conversion system, which is integral to the conventional setup of nuclear power plants. By standardizing equipment across Oklo’s facilities, the partnership aims to achieve substantial cost savings in manufacturing, construction, operations, and maintenance. The use of shared spare parts is anticipated to minimize maintenance downtime and enhance system reliability and performance.

Jacob DeWitte, Co-Founder and CEO of Oklo, emphasized the importance of cost efficiency in their engineering process. “Our focus on cost is central to leveraging the advantages of fast fission technology. By using proven designs and readily available materials, we are able to reduce both costs and complexity,” said DeWitte. Oklo’s technology utilizes liquid metal as a coolant, which, due to its high boiling point, allows the reactor to operate at elevated temperatures without high pressure. This approach benefits from existing supply chains, utilizing components already in production.

The partnership with Siemens Energy is a testament to Oklo’s growing market traction, evidenced by robust customer interest exceeding 1,300 megawatts in non-binding letters of intent. “We are dedicated to advancing fission clean energy solutions that are both innovative and economically viable,” stated Alex Renner, Chief Product Officer at Oklo.
